Can rice turn in to worms while being cooked?

Ok I know this sounds dumb but this just happened while i was cooking my rice as i normally do (fry it first) i was getting the broth ready to add to the rice and when i see it almost every single grain of rice looked like dead worms yuccckkk idk I'm thinking maybe cuz the rice is kind of old i ran out of the fresh bag and had to used some i had from like 6months ago it was stored in a bag where no fly can get in there i don't even have any flies in my house ever so idk this is really weird :(
