Have Democrats And Republicans been fighting so much that we forgot what is right for the USA?

Now please correct me If im wrong. But have both parties neglected the USA? Myself im a independent but both parties are beginning to get involved with money and all this bickering. On the news you hear Obama take the GOP but the GOP just fire right back. Im not asking for a world thats without debate all's im saying is that there shouldn't be these low blows to each other's parties. Today it seems like both parties have the confidence of the USA.
